Planning and Community Development

Kochville Township’s planning and community development activities create a framework in which we strive to create a healthy community – one that can sustain our generation as well as those to come.

We bring together residents, business owners, state and federal officials, and other interested stakeholders in order to coordinate growth, create efficient infrastructures, strengthen our economy, protect and enhance quality of life, and address the wise use of our natural and human resources.

Kochville Township residents treasure the past and plan for the future.

Planning Commission
The State of Michigan grants townships authority to regulate and control property development to promote and protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. This responsibility is carried out in Kochville Township by a seven-member Planning Commission appointed by the supervisor with Township Board approval.

The Planning Commission develops a comprehensive master plan for managing residential, commercial, agricultural, industrial, and other land and must hold at least four regular meetings per year. At least one public hearing is necessary before adopting any portion of the plan. The Commission also is responsible for implementing the township’s master plan by providing recommendations to the Board of Trustees for final approval.

All Kochville Township zoning ordinances, as well as the Kochville Township Master Plan are available for review at the Township Offices. The Master Plan may be purchased for $25.

You can learn more about the members, meeting schedule and meeting minutes in the Government, Planning Commission Section.
